After raising the free speech question, Elon Musk buys over seven crore shares of Twitter!

Tesla CEO and long-time Twitter critic Elon Musk have purchased about 9.2 percent of the social media giant, making him Twitter's largest shareholder; according to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Tesla's chief executive owned 73,486,938 shares in the social media platform as of 14 March.

The ultimate aim of Mr. Musk's 73.5 million share purchase, worth $3billion, is not known. Yet, in late March, Musk, who has 80 million Twitter followers and is very active on the site, questioned whether they thought the social media platform encouraged free speech.

According to Elon Musk, free speech is essential to a functioning democracy. Musk also had conducted an opinion poll in late March for Twitter users. Do you believe Twitter rigorously adheres to this principle?" Here, the scarcely credible fact was 70.4% of votes were against Twitter. He then asked, "is a new platform is needed?" Tesla Inc Chief Executive officer Elon Musk has started a Twitter poll, asking users if they want an edit button.

"Do you want an edit button?" tweeted Musk.

Musk's Twitter stocks were worth $2.89 billion based on the 2nd April closing price, and also Twitter's stock surged by more than 27%. Twitter's $31.5 billion market value is a fraction of what companies like Tesla or rival social media giant Meta own.

Elon Musk often uses social media sites to disseminate his views on crypto. Musk has also criticized Twitter's use of spending engineering resources on integrating NFTs instead of fixing other issues on its platform.

"It looks like Elon has his eyes laser set on Twitter," said Wedbush analyst Dan Ives in a research note, adding that the stake could lead to a "more aggressive ownership role." According to Forbes, Musk is the world's richest person, with an estimated net worth of $288 billion. According to sources, Musk will bring considerable changes to the Social Media industry.
